The Bangladesh Cricket Board is set to appoint Justice Abdur Rashid as the head of the Tribunal formed to deal with the match-fixing allegations in the Bangladesh Premier League after today’s first board meeting, a BCB official said on Saturday. BCB delay in forming the Tribunal raised quite a few eyebrows as it was expected that they would take necessary steps to set up the Tribunal immediately after the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit on August 13 charged nine individuals to be involved in the conspiracy.
‘Justice Abdur Rashid is expected to be the convener of the Tribunal,’ said Ismail Haider Mallick on Saturday.
‘We hope to announce the Tribunal today after the board meeting as we need to get it approved,’ Mallick added.
Earlier it was reported that former chief justice Mahmudul Amin would lead the panel but the BCB could not appoint him as he demanded an astronomical sum of money.
