Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association besieged residence of the vice-chancellor, Anwar Hossain, on Thursday, to protest at his delayed signing some emergence file issued by the teachers.
At least 100 teachers besieged the VC’s residence for one hour from 12:00pm for ensuring his signature on the files. Sources said 11 teachers from different disciplines applied to the VC for vacation but he received only two of them as they were ‘loyal’ to him and the JUTA alleged that he did not approve the other applications as those applicants were protesting against him.
The association gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the VC for deploying additional law enforces on the campus.
