This comeback season, actor Kajol is reportedly playing a mafia mummy in the Bollywood adaptation of the Dutch TV series Penoza. The film will be co-produced by her husband Ajay Devgn, reports India Today.
Penoza essays the story of a woman whose husband, a former mafia gang member, has been murdered. Although the police offer her protection, she takes matters in to her own hands for the safety of her three children, and plans to track down her husband’s killer.
‘Kajol will be doing a film this year. It will hopefully go on floors from end of October. It will be produced by me and directed by (ad filmmaker) Ram Madhvani,’ told Ajay Devgn.
‘It is a woman-centric film. We are looking for a hero. I would only be producing the film… I won’t be part of it,’ added Ajay.
Earlier, actress Sridevi had made a comeback with woman-centric film English Vinglish which turned out to be a huge hit. Cousin Rani Mukerji will also be seen in a film, titled Mardaani, which is centered around a woman.
Kajol was last seen in Karan Johar’s 2010 movie My Name Is Khan. She has received six Filmfare Awards and holds the record for most Best Actress wins at Filmfare, with five. In 2011, the Government of India awarded her with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country.
