The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed former Sri Lankan cricketer Ruwan Kalpage as the national team’s fielding coach on a two-year contract, said an official on Saturday.
Kalpage, who worked as the head coach of the National Cricket Academy from 2008-10, has agreed to join the Tigers as soon as possible. ‘Kalpage was among the applicants when the advertisement for the vacant post of the fielding coach was floated and he was selected,’ BCB’s media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters.
Jalal added that another Sri Lankan Piyal Wiztunge will also join the Tigers soon as their next spin bowling coach.
Bangladesh already has two Sri Lankan in coaching staff in head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and trainer Mario Villaarayan.
Bowling coach Heath Streak, physio Vibhav Singh and analyst Nasir Ahmed are the other members of the team management.
Vibhav will leave after the West Indies tour and will be replaced by National Academy physio Brett Harrop untill his replacement is found.
