Selectors on Friday drafted former national cricketer Alok Kapali into the Bangladesh A team for the 12-day skill training camp starting on Sunday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium after the batsman sorted out his misunderstanding with chief selector Akram Khan.
Earlier, the BCB announced a 25-member squad for the camp excluding Kapali as the batsman did not show any interest in the programme as he was expecting a call into the Zimbabwe-bound national team.
The hard-hitting batsman from Sylhet was on the standby list for the ODI series against Zimbabwe but fortune eventually did not favour him.
‘We did not keep Alok in the list for the camp earlier as he was not interested in joining the camp but we included him later as he is now eager to join it,’ Akram told New Age.
‘I think he has nothing to be worried about as he is in our good book,’ Akram added.
Kapali, however, said the chief selector misunderstood him as he was never reluctant to join the A team.
‘I asked Akram bhai what they want to do with me. By saying that I actually wanted to know where they will place me – in the national team or in the A team? But he thought I was not interested in the A team,’ said Alok, who is relieved that the misunderstanding with the chief selector is over.
