Branding Khaleda Zia as a ‘master killer’, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday aired an apprehension that the opposition leader may again try to kill her as she wants a Hasina-free Bangladesh. “She (Khaleda) wants a Hasina-free Bangladesh, she failed to kill me earlier… she might try to kill me again,” Hasina said addressing a mammoth rally at Bhangarhat Talimpur Telihati High School ground here.
The prime minister said the opposition leader killed more than 24 Awami League leaders and activists, including Ivy Rahman, through grenade attacks on August 21 in 2004, and she is now killing people by imposing countrywide hartals and setting fire to vehicles.
She also warned that Khaleda Zia will have to face trial for killing more than 20 people during the hartal hours.
“By the grace of Allah, the trial of those killings will be held,” Hasina said adding that the opposition leader has to take the responsibility for these killings.
She said the people of the country in the last election cast their votes in favour of the Awami League-led grand alliance. “We came to power with a majority. And then we amended the constitution to make sure that those will be in power for whom people will cast their votes. We’ve sealed the scope of grabbing power illegally,” she said.
