The BNP chairperson and opposition leader, Khaleda Zia, reached Saudi Arabia early Sunday to perform Umrah during her a 10-day visit at the invitation of the Saudi government.
Sources at the Saudi unit of BNP said the opposition leader and her entourage arrived at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina around 2:00am (Saudi time).
Several hundred expatriate BNP leaders and activists received Khaleda Zia upon her arrival at the airport.
According to the sources, Khaleda will stay in Medina as a royal guest for three days.
Later, she will go to Makkah to perform the Umrah.
Her younger brother Shamim Eskander, his wife Kaniz Fatema, BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, private secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed and photographer Nuruddin Ahmed are accompanying the opposition leader during her visit.
