Leader of the opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia on Thursday celebrated her 69 birthday by cutting a large cake at her Gulshan office. Senior leaders and party activists, intellectuals and professionals including poets, writers, journalists, doctors, engineers and lawyers were present on the occasion. The BNP Chairperson cut the 69-pound cake at 9:05pm at a informal function as she turned 69 on August 15 this time.
Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed and former Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdur Rauf and BNP standing committee members including Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Dr RA Ghani, Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and party vice president Sadeque Hossain Khoka, among others, were present on the occasion.
Later, they greeted Khaleda Zia by offering her with floral bouquets.
She greeted party leaders and activists, who gathered in front of her office, by raising her hand Party sources said, the BNP chairperson also organised doa and milad mahfil at her Gulshan residence in the morning to mark the day. Besides, she also exchanged greetings with her sons and grand sons over telephone on the occasion.
Earlier, the BNP and its different front and associate organisations celebrated the 69 birthday of Khaleda Zia, across the country on Thursday.
