BNP vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka has criticised the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for hurriedly opening the Mayor Hanif Flyover for vehicular movement, saying it is still risky as 30 percent construction work is yet to be finished. “Our achievement has been hijacked by the premier as most of the development works in the capital including Gulistan-Jatrabari Mayor Hanif Flyover were started during the BNP-led four-party alliance government. Now, the premier is just inaugurating the development projects,” he claimed.
All kinds of primary works including feasibility study of the flyover were conducted by the previous BNP-Jamaat government. A foundation stone was also set up but this government has vandalised that intentionally, he alleged.
Khoka came up with the statement at a press conference at the party’s Naya Paltan central office as the premier Sheikh Hasina on Friday opened the flyover for vehicular movement.
Khoka, also the convener of Dhaka City unit BNP said Hatir Jheel project was also approved during BNP-Jamaat government but the government is claiming that it is their own achievement.
BNP carried out all visible development works in the capital during its tenure but the Awami League-led grand alliance government is telling lies in this regard to mislead people, he alleged.
The government will have to pay dearly for its falsehood and misdeeds if the next general election is held under a non-party caretaker government oversight, he said.
BNP leaders M Osman Farroque, Abdus Salam and others were present at the press briefing.
