A Dhaka Court Thursday placed arrested Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka on a two-day remand in a case filed in connection with an arson attack on a bus that had left three passengers dead and 16 others burnt. etropolitan Magistrate MA Salam passed the order after police produced had Khoka before the court on Thursday afternoon seeking a 20-day police remand in two cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh police stations with 10 days in each case.
In another case, the court sent Khoka to jail rejecting his bail prayer. Earlier in the afternoon, Khoka was shown arrested in the two cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh police stations for arson attack and killing people.
Police have filed a murder case against 15 opposition leaders including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for arson attack on a bus at Malibagh in Dhaka that left a man dead and three injured on November 30.
BNP leaders Mirza Abbas, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, Salahuddin Ahmed and Barkatullah Bulu are among the other accused.
Shahbagh police filed the second case against Fakhrul and 15 other senior BNP leaders in connection with the arson attack on a bus at Shahbagh.
On November 12, police filed a case against 26 opposition activists, including Khoka, for an arson attack on a human hauler.
Sadeque Hossain Khoka, the Dhaka metropolitan unit convenor for the BNP, has been shown arrested in several cases, including attempt to murder, filed under the Explosive Substance Act 1908.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) along with Detective Branch personnel arrested Former Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Khoka from a residence at Uttara area sector-4 at around 9:45pm.
