Khulna promised to provide high security for the second Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, which begins at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on November 3.
The players of both the teams will arrive in the city today and are expected to take part in their first training session on Friday. According to the venue manager Abdus Sattar Kochi, Bangladesh Cricket Board officials will visit the ground today to see if all the facilities are in perfect condition.
‘The BCB officials will visit the venue to check the conditions of the electronic scoreboard, giant screen, players’ dressing room, hospitality box, president’s box and media box’, said Kochi.
The entire Khulna city will be brought under blanket security from today, as around 600 police will be deployed for the security of the players and officials during the Test match.
‘A total of 165 policemen will be deployed in and around the Hotel City Inn, where both teams will stay and another 425 policemen will be deployed in and outside the ground during the Test match for the security,’ said the commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police, Nibash Chandra Majhi.
In addition, two platoons of BGB and adequate number of intelligence men will also be on duty in and around the venue with dog squads and bomb search devices during the Test match.
