Mayoral candidates in the Khulna City Corporation elections in an open programme on Tuesday put forth their electoral pledges for the development of the
city and enhancing services for its dwellers.
Answering question asked by the city dwellers, the three mayoral candidates said they would
take positive steps necessary to solve the menacing water stagnation in the
city and eradicate mosquitoes.
They also gave
assurance of developing the information technology sector to take the service to the doorstep of the people of all walks of life.
The Greater Khulna Development Action Coordination Committee organsied the programme ‘Face-the-people’ at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city.
The 14-party-backed candidate, Talukder Abdul Khaleque, 18-party-backed United Citizens’ Forum candidate Moniruzzaman Moni and Jatiya Party-backed Khulna Nagarik Unnayan Samanway
Committee candidate Shafiqul Islam Madhu participated in the programme joined in by a large number of people from all spheres of life.
The programme was moderated by Dainik Purbanchal editor and chairperson of Khulna Divisional Press Club Federation Liakat Ali.
