Students of seven disciplines under life science school at Khulna University withdrew their fast-unto-death programme on Wednesday after the authorities assured them of
meeting their demand for holding term final examinations.
The term final examinations will now be held on July 24 as decided in a meeting of the heads of seven disciplines at 1:30pm, with the vice-chancellor Professor Fayekuzzaman in the chair.
The registrar, Molla Amir Hossain, and the controller of examinations Md Nazrul Islam were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, a group of teachers of life science school, who were on work-stoppage, also called off their movement against the appointment of Samir Kumar Shadhu as dean of the life science school.
The decisions to withdraw the fast-unto-death of the students and work stoppage by teachers and hold the term final examinations came following a ruling of the High Court.
A division bench of the High Court comprised of Justice Mirza Hossain Haider and Justice Khorshed Alam Sarker on Wednesday passed an order to hold the examinations of life science school in the next three weeks.
