Khulna and Tangail, champion of Grameen-Danone Nations Cup in 2009 and 2010 respectively, are scheduled to leave here tomorrow for South Africa to take part in the core competition of Danone Nations Cup, which begins in October simultaneously in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Khulna were supposed to take part in the finals last year in Brazil but the competition was suspended due to outbreak of swine flu, but this time they are joining current champions Tangail for the South Africa mission.
The boys from remote villages are expected to return home on October 5.
“We have to make sure that the players get a healthy environment and enjoy the festival so that they become interested in the game. The result is not significant here rather our goal is to create enthusiasm among the young booters as they are the future prospect of the country’s football,’ said BFF vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed at a press conference at the BFF House yesterday.
BFF member Sheikh Mohammed Aslam, General Secretary Al Musabbir Sadi and Grameen Danone Nations Cup acceleration unit’s executive Marion were also present.
