Bangladesh national football coach Lodewijk De Kruif is expected to arrive today ending his long 4-month of absence largely because of his unpaid wages.
Kruif will take charge of the Bangladesh Under-23 side that will play in the 17th Asian Games, scheduled in South Korean city Incheon from September 19 to October 4.The Bangladesh Football Federation is preparing a guideline for the Kruif and his assistant Rene Koster in order to help them avoid a similar debacle in their first serious assignment at the 2013 SAFF championship.
Bangladesh were eliminated in the first round of SAFF and Kruif’s coaching method was held responsible by many local pundits for the unexpected result.
A BFF fact findings committee also found that the players were tired being unable to cope up with Kruif’s hard, European-styled training method
‘We are fully aware of what happened in the past,’ said Kazi Nabil Ahmed, chairman of BFF’s national teams committee. ‘So we decided to speak to the coaches and set them a guideline.
‘The coaches will definitely have their plans. But we too have certain observations about our players something which the coaches may not be aware of. So we will brief them about how to deal our players. Hopefully this will help them plan in a better way.’
In order to help the coaches create a team spirit, the BFF officials said they are also planning to arrange their accommodation at the BKSP, where the Asian Games squad will train from Sunday.
