Businessman Murder
Land dispute behind killing: family
Dispute over lands might have led to the murder of businessman at Mirpur, said family members of the deceased. The victim Zafrul Haque Muktar, 52, chairman of Home Tech Developers, in the area, was shot dead by unnamed assailants on Saturday at the house of Mirpur 6.
The family members were giving contradictory accounts about the motives of the killing. Earlier on Saturday, Zafrul’s son Razib alleged that his father was killed by extortionist as he denied giving money.
A murder case was under process to be registered with Rupnagar police station till the report was written at 6:30pm.
When asked, Sehida Zafar, widow of the victim, told New Age that Zafrul was engaged in land disputes at his village under Shibchar in Madaripur.
Md Shameem Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rupnagar police, told New Age that they were focusing three issues — personal enmity, dispute over land in village and extortion.
