Former national chess player Md Saif Uddin Lavlu became the 14th FIDE Master of Bangladesh after the World Chess Federation awarded him the title.
Lavlu, who is also the manager of the Tias Club chess team, has earned 2315 rating points throughout his career. He has participated twicein the World Chess Olympiad, first in 1996 in Armenia and later accompanied the Bangladesh chess team as a member in Turkey four years later.
Lavlu is now an elected executive member of the Bangladesh Chess Federation and previously captained the Dhaka City team at the World Cities Team Championship in 2012 in the United Arab Emirates.
