The upcoming scheduled matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League have been postponed indefinitely due to a shortage of security personnel, the Bangladesh Football Federation announced in a press release on Sunday. The press release said that the league will remain suspended indefinitely until further decisions are made. BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said that the BFF had been forced into suspending the league because not enough police personnel were available for security at the Bangbandhu National Stadium.
The league will resume once stadium security could be guaranteed by the police, Shohag said.
Much of the city’s police force had been stationed around the city after the opposition alliance announced a political programme, which was scheduled for yesterday.
