Lightning hit the Maulna Bhasnai Hockey Stadium on Saturday where the archery
events were taking place leaving a judge injured.
A flash of lightning near the stadium during the heavy rainfall in the afternoon caused an injury to judge Nurul Islam, who was speaking on mobile phone, and he lost his consciousness.
Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, treasurer of the Bangladesh Olympic Association and general secretary of the Bangladesh Archery Federation, was also left ill from the shock of the lightning.
Nurul Islam was given first aid at the Bangabandhu National Stadium’s medical centre and came back to the stadium after a few hours while Chapal was admitted to the LabAid Hospital due to a chest pain.
`He (Chapal) was admitted to the hospital and the doctors advised him bed rest,` informed Harunur Rashid, chairman of the Games steering committee.
