MA Hashem has unanimously been elected the chairman of United Commercial Bank at an emergency board meeting of the bank recently, said a press release.
A former lawmaker and one of the founder directors of UCB, Hashem is also the chairman of Partex Group and the North South University Foundation. Saifuzzaman Chowdhury MP has been elected the chairman of the executive committee.
Saifuzzaman, a former president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries, is also the managing director of Aramit Group and a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sharif Zahir has been elected the vice-chairman while independent director Abu Tayeb Muhammad Zahirul Alam has been elected the chairman of the audit committee.
