Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday to play for defending champions Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier League.
Malik joined compatriot Azhar Mahmud and is expected to play against Bangladesh Biman today. He will be the fifth Pakistani cricketer to play for Mohammedan this season after Englishman Moeen Ali, Sri Lankan Farveez Maharoof and his countrymen Mohammad Yousuf and Azhar.
Mohammedan wanted all-rounder Malik in their squad from the beginning of the league, but the Pakistan Cricket Board did not give him any permission initially. Club officials said they expect him to play in all the remaining games of the league.
Mohammedan are currently trailing arch-rivals Abahani by three points at the top of the league.
