A man died yesterday at city’s Pallabi area when he fell down on the floor during a scuffle with his wife over money to buy drugs.
The deceased was identified as Sohrab Hossain, 40, a rickshaw puller of Block-D on Road-12 in the area.
Sub Inspector Ansar Ali of Pallabi Police Station said police admitted him to National Heart Foundation Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 10:00am. The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
Police said Sohrab locked into quarrel with his wife over money to buy drugs and started beating her around 8:30am. At one stage, Sohrab’s wife and daughters allegedly pushed him down to the floor, injuring him.
The OC added that they detained the deceased’s wife and two daughters for interrogation. A murder case will be filed if the autopsy reveals it to be a murder, he added.
