Local people confined a young man along with a firearm and handed him over to the police in
Sylhet city Wednesday night.
The detainee was identified as Akash Chowdhury Babul, 26, son of Aftab Uddin of Nayapara at
Akhalia in Sylhet city, the police said.Witnesses said residents of Kalibari area in the city’s Akhalia challenged Babul because of his suspicious movement at about 8:30pm on Wednesday.
They searched his body and found a rifle along with one bullet in his possession and handed him over to the police after beating, the sources said.
The Jalalabad police officer-in-charge, Shyamal Banik, confirmed the incident and said the allegation of possessing the firearm against Babul was found true in the primary investigation.
