Finally, Manisha Koirala is cancer free, reports Mumbai Mirror. The actress, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2012, went through a six-month-long intensive treatment that included a surgery and several painful chemotherapy sessions at New York’s Sloan Kettering Hospital, before returning to Mumbai on June 26, 2013. She spoke about her ordeal when Mirror reached out to her on July 10, 2013. However, she was still on medication.
The latest is that the actress has purged out the last traces of the disease and is now off treatment.
‘My treatment is over,’ she announces to Mirror over phone from Oneness University, a spiritual center near Chennai, where she’s been staying for over a month now.
The actress had her final checkups done in New York in mid-July this year where all her reports came out clean.
However, Manisha needs to remain particular about her diet. ‘I am totally off non-vegetarian food now. It’s only loads of organic veggies for me. Also, I need to go slow on rice and sugar. It is going to be tough,’ says Manisha with a laugh.
Although, she has hit the gym with a vengeance and has become a regular at dance classes, Manisha says she is not eager to face the camera any time soon. That puts a lid on rumours doing the rounds that she is considering a comeback with Shashilal Nair’s biopic on Meena Kumari. “’I will return to acting only if I am 200 per cent sure about my role and script.’
Instead, she is planning to go the family way. No, she is in no mood to get married, all she wants is to adopt a child. ‘Adopting a baby was always on my wishlist. There are many single parents who are doing a fabulous job. Why not me? My child and I would share a very special bond,’ she says.
