Award-winning guitarist Margarita Escarpa will play Spanish guitar at a solo show at the Berlin Hall of Goethe-Institut at Dhanmondi in the capital tomorrow at 7:00pm. The Department of Spanish Language and Culture, University of Dhaka has invited the artiste to play at the solo concert. One of the most talented contemporary solo guitarists in Spain, Margarita Escarpa has performed in some of the most important music festivals in Europe, Asia and America. For her music talent, Margarita won the Extraordinary End of Studies Prize from the Royal Superior Music Conservatory of Madrid in 1992. She also won eight international awards including the 20th Solo Guitar Competition in the USA.
Margarita mainly plays tones of noted composers like JS Bach, JP Rameau, el Padre Soler, S Alberto, I Albéniz, M de Falla, C. Debussy, and others. As a solo artiste, she has recorded CD albums from different production houses including RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television group), Opera Tres, Naxsos, La Ma de Guido and GHA Records. Her latest album Estampes, which was released in October 2013, has received rave reviews.
Margarita is also known as a dedicated teacher and also a music director at the Guitar Department of the Superior Music Conservatory of Vigo. Besides, being a guitarist, Margarita has also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
