Mohammedan SC will be without Mashrafee bin Murtaza for their Dhaka Premier League encounter with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today, while Kalabagan KC should finally have Sakib al Hasan available for their next match.
Mashrafee experienced a swelling around his injured left knee after it was struck by a ball during league leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club’s match against Abahani Ltd on Sunday. He was ruled out of today’s contest by Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury.
The news was brighter for Sakib, who could make his Kalabagan Krira Chakra debut against Khelaghar SKS at BKSP-3 on Monday after missing the team’s first four fixtures due to a hand injury he sustained during his time in the Caribbean Premier League last month. Kalabagan have managed just one win and three defeats in the absence of their marquee acquisition.
‘We have cleared him to play in the next match,’ said Dr. Chowdhury, ‘But the entire decision to play depends on him, as we don’t know whether he felt any pain during [Wednesday’s] practice session.’
Khelaghar, winless after three matches, will take on Tamim Iqbal’s Brothers Union at Fatullah today in their fourth round fixture ahead of Monday’s date with Sakib’s Kalabagan KC. Brothers Union have two wins and a loss so far this season.
Abahani will take on Kalabagan Cricket Academy at BKSP-3 in today’s other fourth round match, with both teams stuck on just one win to date, although Kalabagan CA has one more point by virtue of its abandoned match against Victoria SC.
