Mehboob Chowdhury, chief executive officer of Citycell (Pacific Bangladesh Telecom Ltd), has become co-convener of FIPS 2013, a forum for financial inclusion and payment system, said a news release. The FIPS is a platform whose focus is on understanding the best practices worldwide and implementing them to achieve 100 per cent financial inclusion throughout the world.
It is of extreme importance for the emerging economies of the world as this endeavours to bring the unbanked population within the banking fold, the release said.
Mehboob Chowdhury chaired the Asia Pacific GSM Association in July 2005 – June 2007. He also chaired South Asia Mobile Forum.
