A six-year-old boy was injured when a crude bomb he was playing with exploded in Upashahar New Market area in Rajshahi city on Saturday.
The injured was identified as Fahim Islam, a resident of Upashahar in the city. His father died few years ago and his mother works as a domestic help.Sources said that Fahim was playing with a bomb-like object he picked up in New Market area around 1:00pm. At one stage, the crude bomb exploded, leaving him injured. Later, local people sent him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Prodish Kumar, assistant registrar of surgery ward at RMCH, told New Age that all fingers of left hand of the boy were severed in the explosion. The boy also received injuries in the face and he was in critical condition, the physician added.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Saifur Rahman told New Age that after the incident, police visited the spot. ‘We are looking into the matter and trying to trace those who planted the cocktail there.’
