The country’s six mobile phone operators added 3 lakh new subscribers in July which took the total active mobile phone subscribers of the country to 11.68 crore.
The latest data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission showed that of the six mobile companies, four witnessed gain in the subscriber number.
The leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone reached near 5-crore-subscriber mark in July by adding 2 lakh new subscribers in the month. GP’s total subscriber base reached to 4.94 crore in the month.
The second largest operator Banglalink added 9,000 subscribers in July which took its total subscriber base to 2.97 crore.
Robi added 1.96 lakh new subscribers in July after witnessing few dull months. The total subscribers of Robi stood at 2.42 crore at the end of July.
Airtel, however, lost 1.87 lakh subscribers in July which pushed down its total subscriber base to 83.53 lakh.
Citycell also lost 24,000 subscribers in July which lowered its subscriber base to 13.92 lakh.
State-run Teletalk added 75,000 new subscribers in July
which took its total subscriber base to 36.70 lakh.
