Active mobile phone subscribers in the country reached to 11.89 crore in October as country’s mobile operators added 5 lakh new users in the month. The latest data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission showed that four mobile operators — Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk — added new subscribers in the month while Airtel and Citycell witnessed decline in subscribers.
Leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone added 5 lakh new users in the month, taking its subscriber base to 5.07 crore.
Banglaink’s subscriber base reached to 3.04 crore in October as the operator added 2 lakh new users in the month.
Robi added 2 lakh new subscribers in the month, taking its subscriber base to 2.51 crore.
State-run Teletalk added 17,000 new subscribers in October and its subscriber base reached to 37.85 lakh.
Airtel lost 4.35 lakh subscribers in October, taking its subscriber base to 74.66 lakh. With the fall in October, the company lost users for four months in a row.
The company lost 6.39 lakh subscribers in July-September as the operator’s subscriber base came down to 79.01 lakh in September from that of 85.40 lakh in June.
Citycell lost 20,000 subscribers in October, taking its subscriber base to 13.29 lakh.
