The number of active mobile users in the country reached to 11.75 crore in August when four out of the country’s six mobile phone operators added new subscribers while the rest two lost users. According to the latest data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone added more than 3 lakh new subscribers that took it subscribers’ base to 4.97 crore.
Banglalink’s subscribers reached to 2.99 crore in August when the operator added more than 2 lakh new users.
Banglalink, however, reached to a subscribers’ base of 3 crore in September.
Robi added more than 4 lakh new subscribers in the month of August that took its subscribers’ base to 2.46 crore.
Airtel witnessed decline in subscriber number in August as it lost 2.10 lakh users in the month that took Airel’s subscribers’ base to 81.43 lakh.
Citycell also lost 22,000 subscribers in the month that took its total number of subscribers to 13.70 lakh.
State-run Teletalk added 57,000 new subscribers in August that took its subscribers’ base to 37.27 lakh.
