The United States ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena visited the Bangladesh Football Federation house on Friday as the chief guest of the Sports United program closing ceremony.
The ambassador was hopeful that the United States would assist in the development of Bangladeshi football in the future. Former US footballers Tony Sanneh and Linda Hamilton conducted coaching programmes with emerging footballers over the last four days.
Two friendly matches were held on the final day. Sui Nu Pru Marma XI beat Linda XI 1-0 and Tony Sanneh XI beat Biplob Bhattacharya XI 5-0 in penalties.
‘Tony and Linda are two US sports representatives of whom the US feels proud. They arrived here to share their experience and also to learn about Bangladesh,’ said Mozena.
‘Football is a game that shows you how to win gracefully and also how to lose in a graceful way. This programme built bridges between two nations and we will try to assist Bangladesh in the process,’ Mozena added.
