The officials of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited announced on Wednesday a bonus payment of Tk 50 lakh for the Super Cup winning team with club president Obaidul Karim
set to provide half of the amount from his own account.
The rest of the quantity, Tk 25 lakh will be dispatched from the prize money.
‘We declared that fifty per cent of the prize money will be disbursed among the players and coaching staff and the club president will personally grant Tk 25 lakh for the team. We will hand over the bonus money tomorrow [Thursday],’ said Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, member in charge of administration of Mohammedan.
The club president also announced a cash reward of Tk one lakh for goalkeeper Mamun Khan, who heroically saved two penalty kicks.
Mintu Sheikh, who scored the championship-winning spot-kick, will be awarded Tk 50,000.
Lokman also confirmed Tk 50,000 rewards for young striker Wahed Ahmed and the most valuable player of the tournament, Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan.
Members of the coaching staff will each receive Tk two lakh as bonus.
Mohammedan claimed a silverware for the first time in four years. Their last triumph came in the inaugural Super Cup in 2009.
The popular club also promised to pay out all the unpaid salary of the players and are already planning in advance ahead of the next season.
‘We have already set up our plans for building a champion side for next season and I am hopeful that all the players will stay in our tent in the upcoming season. I promised to the players that we will pay all outstanding wages before the next player transfer window,’ said Amirul Islam Babu, manager of Mohammedan.
Meanwhile, after clinching the Super Cup trophy, the players and organisers of
Mohammedan spent a sleepless night after celebrating throughout the night.
‘It was a glorious night for us. We spent a restless night after holding the Super Cup for the second time in three seasons. We cannot explain in words how happy we are,’ explained Mamun Khan, goalkeeper of the champion side.
