Portuguese Rui Capello will arrive today to take charge of traditional football powerhouse Mohammedan Sporting Club for the rest of the season, ending the speculation about the club’s coaching situation. There were a lot of rumours surrounding Mohammedan’s head coaching position as Saiful Bari Titu, their coach last season, recently agreed to join Bangladesh National Team coach Lodewijk De Kruif as his deputy.
Mohammedan signed the 44-year-old Portuguese, who is a UEFA pro licence holder, after Titu refused to extend his time with the club.
Mohammedan were earlier in talks with several European coaches before signing Capello, who will arrive at 11:00am today.
‘We are hopeful of a great season with Capello. We have an entire season ahead. I am sure he will also enjoy the company of our boys,’ Mohammedan manager Amirul Islam Babu said on Monday.
Mohammedan will take on Muktijoddha Sangsad in their first game of the Bangladesh Premier League season.
