The full-house audience at the Studio Theatre of Brady Arts Centre, London on 9 November gave a big ovation to the artists at the end of the performance of Theatre’s current production Mukti.
The play was staged as a part of the festival titled ‘A Season of Bangla Drama’ organised by Tower Hamlets Council from 2 to 24 November 2013, said a press release. This was the 11th season of the Festival. Theatre staged Mukti in the Festival with the generous support of the Bangladesh High Commission in London. In the current festival seven Bangla and six plays in English are being staged besides three seminars and an exhibition.
Mijarul Quayes has adapted Mukti from Lee Blessing’s original English play. Directed by Tropa Majumdar, renowned actors like Ferdausi Majumdar, Tamanna Islam, Tanjum Are Polly and Tanveen Sweety.
Before the play began, leader of the Theatre group Ramendu Majumdar and festival curator Kazi Ruksana Begum welcomed the audience. After the play flower bouquets were offered to the director and the artists by Mijarul Quayes, high commissioner of Bangladesh in London.
He also gave a speech.
A 10 member group of Theatre visited London for this performance.
