Bangladesh Cricket Board XI failed to get a winning start in the Acharya Memorial Trophy as they lost to Mumbai by eight wickets in the rain-interrupted opening game at Jadavpur University’s campus ground in Kolkata on Monday. Bangladesh fielded six Test players in Anamul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Elias Sunny, Abul Hassan, Anamul Haque and Naeem Islam, yet they could only manage 138 runs before they were all out in 41 overs.
Rain interrupted the game twice after their innings to give Mumbai a revised target of 130 runs in 46 overs and they achieved it comfortably putting 130-2 in 32.1 overs.
The BCB XI were lifted by two late order batsmen Elias Sunny and Arafat Sunny, who shared 64 runs for the ninth wicket after they were left reduced to 70-8.
Elias remained unbeaten on 40 runs while Sunny chipped in with 24 to give their innings some respectability.
Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur’s 4-35 played a big hand for the dismissal of BCB XI cheaply.
Mumbai’s one-down Aditya Tare scored 55 not out to the seal the win.
BCB XI will take on Karnataka today at the same ground.
