A solo exhibition featuring photographs by Musa Ibrahim — the first Bangladeshi to reach the summit of Mount Everest — begins today at Alliance Francaise de Dhaka, Dhanmondi.
Titled “Bangladesh on Top of The Everest”, the exhibition will feature some exclusive photographs taken by Ibrahim during his Everest expedition.
After a serious struggle, Ibrahim realised his dream to reach the summit of Everest on May 23, 2010. All the thrilling parts of his journey (from April 10 to May 23) were documented with a ‘point and shoot’ camera.
This exhibition will reveal the determination, challenges as well as the perseverance of Musa Ibrahim.
Ibrahim started climbing hills in Bangladesh in 2000. He stepped into the Himalayas in 2002. He seriously started mountaineering in 2004 through active participation in training. Later, he took part in mountaineering expeditions every year — from 2005 to 2010.
Earlier Ibrahim took part in a group exhibition titled “Endearing Face of Himalayas” in 2004. He also had another exhibition titled “All and Sundry” in 2007.
Muhammad Habibur Rahman, former chief adviser to the Caretaker Government, is expected to be present as chief guest at the opening. Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, will be present as guest of honour. Mahfuz Anam, editor, The Daily Star and Matiur Rahman, editor, the daily Prothom Alo will be present as special guests.
The exhibition will remain open for all till December 9.
