Bangladesh national cricket team captain Mushfiqur Rahim was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on Thursday as he had been suffering from fever for the last four days and after some tests he was diagnosed with some complications in his liver, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s physician said on Friday. Mushfiq’s unexpected illness came as a major blow for BCB North Zone ahead of their match against Walton Central in the Bangladesh Cricket League, starting at the BKSP from today.
‘Mushfiq is not taking part in tomorrow’s (today’s) match of the BCL,’ said BCB’s physician Dr Monirul Amin on Friday.
‘Mushfiq was suffering from fever for the last four days that prompted us to send him to Apollo.
‘There he was found with some abnormality in the liver function after doing some tests. So, we have decided to keep him there for observation,’ he added.
The symptoms indicate that he might have contracted viral hepatitis, though it is not confirmed as the BCB doctors are yet to receive all test reports.
