Captain Mushfiqur Rahim hit an unbeaten 97 off 81 to lead Sheikh Jamal DC to a four-wicket victory over Kalabagan Cricket Academy and a second place finish in the Dhaka Premier League at the BKSP on Friday. KCA won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 223 all out in 49.1 overs, led by opener Abdul Majid’s 102 off 118. Abdur Razzak took 4-56 for Jamal, who then made quick work of the chase.
Jamal reached 228-6 in just 39.2 overs, led by man-of-the-match Mushfiq and Tushar Imran (62).
The victory saw Jamal overtake Prime Doleshwar, who lost the Gazi Tank Cricketers on Friday, for second in the league based on their head-to-head victory earlier.
Meanwhile, Prime Bank CC’s Ravi Bopara scored a massive 157 off 157 balls to lead his side to a 14-run win against Mohammedan SC at Fatullah.
Bopara and opener Saykat Ali (67) took Prime Bank to 280-6 after electing to bat first.
Mohammedan were bowled out for 266 in 48.5 overs despite fifties from Upul Tharanga (52), Rahmat Shah (64) and Mashrafee bin Murtaza (53).
Man-of-the-match Bopara capped off an all-round performance with four wickets for 46 runs. He also finished as the league’s top scorer, with 670 runs.
