Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim formally changed his club on Sunday, joining Prime Dholeshwar from Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at a programme in Dhaka.
His signing gave a kick start to the player recruitment process for the next Dhaka Premier League with the formal transfer date set for August 5 and 6 while the league will start from October 10.
Dholeshwar, who surprisingly finished third in the last league, are going to form a formidable side with left-arm spinners Sanjamul Islam and Elias Sunny joining the skipper, among others.
The club is also set to retain the services of Mominul Hauqe and young Rony Talukder and Mehedi Maruf and all-rounder Muktar Ali.
‘I think the players should have the freedom to choose his own club,’ Mushfiq told reporters after signing for the club.
‘Last year they could not be the champions but hopefully this time they will do it.’
