Mustafizur Rahman’s stint with English county side Sussex could be delayed further as he is yet to receive his UK visa, officials said. Mustafiz was scheduled to join Sussex in June after signing as their second overseas cricketer for the NatWest T20 Blast and the Royal London One-Day Cup. But his participation was delayed by the medical team of Bangladesh Cricket Board, who feared that the cricketer may suffer a burnout after grueling campaigns in the ICC World Twenty20 and Indian Premier League.
The BCB cleared him to play for Sussex in late June after a rehabilitation process, prompting the paceman to apply for his visa.
A BCB official said that they booked his flight in different airlines for today so that he can reach in time to make his debut for Sussex against Hampshire at Hove on July 15 in NatWest T20 Blast.
Mustafiz is set to play at least four matches in both NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup provided he gets his visa in the early hours today.
His stint with the county will be lengthened if the team qualifies for the semi-final and final of the tournament.
