It is the age old tradition to celebrate Agrahayan, the seventh month of Bangla year, which is associated with new harvest. Following the tradition, the urban troupes these days also organise programmes celebrating the month.
Like the previous years, Jatiyo Nabanno Utsab Udjapan Parisad organised a day-long programme at the Bakul Tala of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University on Saturday. The programme featured colourful presentation of music and dance.
Inaugurated by language movement veteran Ahmed Rafique, the programme began with a duet instrumental flute presentation by Murtaza Kabir Murad and Murassat Jabin.
Their soothing flute performance presented in the early morning created a soothing feeling.
Artistes of Natoraj presented a group dance recital synchronised with the song Aay Rey Chhutey Aay. The well coordinated dance of the artistes wearing colourful attire glorified the spirit of the festival.
Bhabna artiste presented a colourful presentation of a group dance recital with timeless song Ami Takdhum Takdhum Bajai Bangladesh-er Dhol.
The traditional paddy harvest was depicted through the group dance recital by Spandan artiste synchronised with song Amar Saijja Bhai Maijja Bhai Cholo Dhan Katte Mathe Jai.
Singers of Satyen Sen Shilpygosthi presented chorus presentation of popular traditional song Dhan Kathibo Kocha Koch in the morning session of the show.
Audience enjoyed presentation of popular songs presented by solo artistes and troupes till the midnight at the Nabanno celebrations programme.
