Banned umpire Nadir Shah accused the Bangladesh Cricket Board of being too harsh while handing him the verdict for his part in a spot-fixing scandal, leaked by a sting
operation of an Indian television channel last year.
Nadir was banned for 10 years after the BCB followed the recommendations submitted by the special committee, which had probed the matter and found him guilty for being insensitive while talking to an undercover reporter.
Two Pakistani umpires Nadeem Ghauri and Anis Siddique were also exposed in the same sting operation but they were banned for only four and three years respectively by the Pakistan Cricket Board on Saturday.
‘The BCB proved to be unjust as there cannot be two sets of laws for the same mistake,’ Nadir told New Age on Monday.
‘While others are receiving lenient sentences, the reason for punishing me so severely only indicates their double-standard about certain issues,’ said Nadir.
Nadir further alleged that the BCB denied him the chance of an appeal and further said that he has not been officially notified about his punishment.
‘I am still waiting for their judgment copy otherwise I cannot lodge any appeal,’ he said.
