Naeem Islam’s maiden double ton against Dhaka was the highlight of the 19th National Cricket League fifth round second day as Rangpur declared their first innings at 560-8 at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Saturday.
At Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium, all-rounder Ziaur Rahman scored his seventh first-class
hundred and carried Khulna to 511-8 before declaring their first innings while Barisal ended the day with 94-4.
Sylhet added more 78 runs to their overnight 241-6 before they were
bowled out for 319 runs in their first innings against Dhaka Metropolitan in Chittagong. In reply, Dhaka Metro reached 231-8 at stumps.
A ton from opener Mizanur Rahman took Rajshahi to 229-5 before rain and bad-lights forced an early stump at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra as they were replying Chittagong’s first innings total of 260 runs
Rangpur v Dhaka
Dhaka managed an early breakthrough on the second day when Mohammad Azam picked Dhiman Ghosh for 15 as Rangpur resuming on 321-4, but they failed to maintain the pressure as Naeem
shared 183-run with Ariful Haque.
Naeem reached his first double hundred in the domestic cricket and scored 216 runs off 349 balls before he was bowled by Shuvagata Hom (3-125).
Ariful remained unbeaten on 100 off 161 balls before Rangpur made the declaration.
Dhaka reached 54-1 at stumps with Rony
Talukder (21)and Minhaj Khan (three) at the
crease.
Khulna v Barisal
The overnight unbeaten batsmen Ziaur and Nahidul Islam (53) put a brilliant display of batting for Khulna as they added 113 runs for the sixth wicket after they resumed their score of 307-4.
All-rounder Ziaur smashed 152 off 222 balls including 11 fours and six sixes before he was retired hurt and his team declared their first innings.
Shohag Gazi of Barisal claimed 4-148 for his side.
In reply Barisal
when lost both their openers on 5 but Fazle Mahmud and Salman Hossain steadied the innings with 72-run partnership in the third wicket.
Spinners Abdur Razzak and Nahidul Islam sent back the batsmen to leave Barisal tottering at 94-4 at stumps.
Dhaka Metro v Sylhet
Resuming the overnight score of 241-6, Sylhet were bowled out for 319 runs in their first innings as Sharif Ullah, Nahiduzzaman and Shaikat Ali picked up three wickets each for Dhaka Metro.
Marshall Ayub and Mohammad Ashraful added 102-runs in the third wicket to raise the hopes of Metro for a first innings lead before but left-arm spinner Enamul Haque Jr scalped bothe batsmen to peg them back.
Marshall fell for 98 while Ashraful made 40.
Enamul’s 5-77 helped Sylhet restrict Dhaka Metro to 231-8 at stumps.
Chittagong v Rajshahi
The overnight unbeaten batsmen Mizanur
and Delwar Hossain (62) added 153 runs in
the third wicket resuming on 34-2.
Mizanur reached his sixth first-class hundred and scored 102 off 162 balls including 13 fours and two sixes.
Farhad Hossain and Towhid Hridoy remained unbeaten on eight
and 17 respectively
to take Rajshahi to 229-5 before rain interrupted the game and forced an early stumps.
