The education minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, on Thursday stressed the need for improving the standard of technical and vocational education for the country’s rapid progress.
‘Technical and vocational education can open up a new horizon for our economy. The nation’s economic emancipation lies in this education system,’ he told a seminar.The Bangladesh Private Polytechnic Owners Association organised the seminar, titled ‘The role of private polytechnic in creating skilled manpower and advancing economic development’, at the city’s Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh.
Chaired by IDEB general secretary M Shamsur Rahman, the seminar was addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Technical Education Board director general M Shahjahan Miah, Bangladesh Technical Education Board chairman Professor M Abul Kasem and entrepreneur Soheli Yesmin.
