Popular and National Award winning singer Naznin Munir Nancy feels threatened that police would arrest her or any members of her family in false case, she has claimed.
She has alleged that police went and searched her house without any cause at Netrakona on Tuesday after she had posted a status where she commented about current politics over facebook in recent days.
She expressed the concerns at a press conference at the National Press Club on Thursday.
Filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam, JASAS president Abdul Maleq, JASAS general secretary singer Monir Khan and other leaders of the organisation were present at the conference.
She said, ‘I am also a human being apart from my singer identity. It is natural that I would like and support a political party, which is my democratic right like other citizens. To express my thought I had posted a status on my facebook wall few days back.’
‘I am now facing threats through facebook, mail and phone since I posted the status at the social networking site,’ she added.
The popular singer also alleged that on Tuesday police told her that they would search her house in Netrakona, where they said she had sheltered some local goons.
‘While asked about the reason of the search, a police member named Sharif Rezaul Karim told me that I had given shelter to some miscreants of Chhatra Dal and Shibir at my house,’ she said.
‘I had tried to convince them that this allegation was not true but they did not accept my word. Not only that, Netrokona police subinspector Alamgir, while talking to move over phone, used many objectionable words,’ she said.
‘Police had told me that about six or seven police members were in the search team, but there were 30-40 people in the team. Who were they?’ she asked.
