The five-day theater festival organised by the Chittagong based troupe Nandimukh will begin today at the Chittagong Shilpakala Academy.
The festival has been organised marking the 22nd founding anniversary of the troupe. It is the second phase of its celebrations, which will feature five plays.
On the opening day, the local troupe Arindom Natya Sampradaya will stage Tara Sankar Bandopadhay’s Kabi, directed by Shamim Jahan .
Tomorrow, another local troupe Uttaradhikar will stage Sampanniya, which is written by Aminur Rahman Mukul and directed by Muslim Uddin Shikdar.
Shylock and Sycophants, written by Hasan Sahriar and directed by Azad Abul Kalam, will be staged on the third day by Dhaka based troupe Theatrewala Repertory.
Directed by Rokeya Rafique Baby, Another Dhaka based troupe Theatre Art Unit will stage Amina Sundori, based on Chittagong’s folktale Malum O Bhalua Sundori, on the fourth day.
On the last day of the festival, another Dhaka based troupe Palakar will stage Narigon. Syed Shamsul Haque’s play has been directed by Ataur Rahman.
