Indian auto maker Tata Motors on Wednesday launched its Nano brand car in Bangladesh market. Nitol Motors will market the Nano car in the country.
Inaugurating the car launch function in Dhaka, commerce minister Tofail Ahmed urged Tata Motors to set up a manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. On the occasion of the launch, a discount price of Tk 7 lakh will be offered for the first three days to Friday for the Bangladeshi customers.
After the period, the price will be Tk 8 lakh for each Tata Nano, a 624cc engine capacity four-seated car with a mileage of 25 kilometres a litre.
One can also buy a Nano in instalments. The down payment will be Tk 3 lakh and each of 42 instalments will be Tk 19,500.
Nitol Motors chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmed requested the commerce minister to withdraw 45 per cent supplementary duty for imported cars below 700cc.
‘If the supplementary
duty is withdrawn, the price of the car will be reduced by Tk 1.10 lakh each,’ he said.
Prime minister’s adviser Mashiur Rahman, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry president Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed and Nitol Motors managing director Abdul Musabbir Ahmed also spoke at the launching ceremony.
