Artist Nasima Khan has depicted the natural diversity of the char areas in different seasons through her watercolor paintings at a solo exhibition at the Bengal Art Lounge in the capital. The exhibition titled Shifting Sands features 69 paintings all done in watercolour. All the paintings that have been done in watercolour beautifully reveal the landscape of the char areas to the eyes of the urban visitors. Vivid colours drawn with bold brush strokes would make one feel a strong urge to visit the remote chars leaving all the din and bustles of city life behind. The urban people who have never been to char areas can fulfill their curiosity about life and nature of those localities only by visiting them. Noted singers Sadi Muhammad, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, Farida Parven will also present different genres of songs at the programme.
Small bushes of ghashphul occupying the shores of rivers have been portrayed by the artist in her painting titled Early Autumn. Seasons like summer and winter have also come with all their beauties and roughness at the exhibition through their paintings of Khan. A painting titled summer depicts view of a landscape of a char having bedded with hot sand and dried out vegetation. Sky darkened with clouds pouring rainwater on the meadow of chars has been captured by the artist in a painting titled Monsoon.
Still Waters, on the other hand, depicts a lonely boat floating on blue water surrounded by beautiful green trees and shore with brown earth.
The exhibition, which began on December 13, will remain open from 12:00 to 8:00pm till December 27.
