The government Thursday announced names of the recipients of the National Film Award-2009.
The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, will distribute the awards among 28 personalities in 26 categories at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on July 23.
The minister for information and culture affairs, Abul Kalam Azad, announced the recipients’ names at a press conference at PIB in the morning.
Azad said the past BNP government did not distribute film awards for four years. On the contrary obscene films were produced preventing the people from visiting cinemas.
He said the previous caretaker government distributed the film awards of four years together.
The minister said the present government had been encouraging making creative and artistic films reflecting the culture and heritage of the Bengali.
Those who will receive the 2009 film awards are: Eminent actress Sultana Zaman (lifetime achievement), producer Anjan Chowdhury Pintu (best film-Manpura), Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond, (best film director-Gangajatra), Alam Khan (best music director- Ebadat), Tanjil (best dance director-Amar Praner Priya), Chanchal Chowdhury (main character-Manpura) along with Ferdous (Gangajatra), Shahidul Alam Sacchu (side character best actor-Britter Baire), Mamunur Rashid (best villain character- Manpura), ATM Shamsuzzaman (best comedian-Mon Basena Parar Tabile), Sadika Parveen Popy (best actress main character- Gangajatra), Nipun (best actress side character- Chandermoto Bou), Syeda Ohida Sabrina (best child actress-Gangajatra), Zarkan (special award (child section) Priyotomeshu), Syed Ohiduzzaman Diamond (best story writer- Gangajatra), Giasuddin Selim (best screenplay, Manpura), Mujtaba Soud (best dialogue writer-Chander Moto Bou), Kumar Biswajit (best singer- Swami-Streer Waada), Kaji Krishnakoli Islam and Chandana Majumdar ((best singer-Manpura), Kabir Bakul (best lyric writer- Swami-Streer Waada), Kumar Biswajit (best music composer, Swami-Streer Waada), Mahfuzur Rahman Khan (best cameraman-Britter Baire), Sujan Mahmud (best sound recording-Britter Baire), Junayed Halim (best editor, Britter Baire), Md Kalamator (best art director, Gangajatra), Khalilur Rahman (best makeup-man Gangajatra), Dilip Singh (best costume and designer, Gangajatra).
